From MIA, the usual route is to take I‑95 south, then east onto the Rickenbacker Causeway (FL‑913). Cross the toll bridge and continue along Crandon Boulevard to reach the beaches. The drive typically takes 15–25 minutes if traffic is light, though there is a toll on the causeway.
For getting around locally, driving is convenient, with paid parking available at Crandon Park and Bill Baggs (around $5–8 per vehicle). A more affordable option is the Miami-Dade Metrobus Route 26, running from Brickell Station to Key Biscayne. Bikes and scooters are common ways to explore the island’s flat paths, and rideshare services can easily drop passengers at park entrances. The weather is generally dry and pleasant, good for swimming and other outdoor activities without the strong heat or sudden showers that summer can bring.
Winter and spring break periods tend to be busier, as visitors from colder areas come, so beaches and parking can get crowded, particularly on weekends. Shoulder months such as May or September through October have fewer people and sometimes better rates, though occasional rain may happen.
